BollywoodLife picks Race 3 as the worst movie of the first half of 2018

Salman Khan’s Race 3 was one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. Yes, it ‘was’ because the magic fizzled out as soon as it hit the screens. The actor was collaborating with Anil Kapoor after a gap of 13 years and that was exciting enough for us to wait for this action thriller. The franchise in itself was so popular with its first two instalments that fans were elated to see what would Salman bring to the table. The fact the Saif was as popular and loved as the franchise, it was essential that the Tiger Zinda Hai actor attempted to go a notch higher than him. Race 3 had a huge star cast that consisted of the likes of Salman, Anil, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem. But as the proverb goes,  too many cooks spoil the broth. Ask us why we picked Race 3 as the worst movie of the first half of 2018 and we would happily take an entire day to elaborate on that. From shoddy dialogues to a twisted plot that didn’t really made any sense, nothing was right with Remo D’Souza’s directorial venture. Guess the director was too overwhelmed to handle such a huge star cast and it went against him. Race, as a franchise, is known for keeping you on the edge of your seats and Race 3 was miles away from it. So there was a catfight and there was backstabbing and it should have ideally made this movie a nail-biting experience. But Salman’s latest offering was neither. It was, in fact, a yawn fest that made the whole movie watching experience a tiring one towards the end. Coming to its music, why would anyone ruin a magical album like that of Race? None of the songs (except Heeriye) had the kind of impact they should ideally have. Even the nursery rhymes sound better than these compositions and we hate to admit that Race 3’s album was one of the worst ones we heard since what, a decade? Okay, so now that we are discussing Race 3 in so much detail, we realise what a bad film it was really. Except for Salman-Bobby’s shirtless scene towards the end and Anil Kapoor’s macho avatar, there was nothing appealing about it. With no good story, no whistle-worthy dialogues, no great action sequence and a plot that would make you want to reach for painkillers, Race 3 easily is the worst film of the first half of 2018 and we sure do hope that the second half has no competition for the film.
